Boulder AI and Systems Infrastructure Lab
University of Colorado Boulder Department of Computer Science
The Boulder AI and Systems Infrastructure Lab (BASIL) is led by Prof. Mark Zhao. We are part of the Computer Systems Lab and the Colorado AI Lab in the Department of Computer Science.
Our mission is to develop the foundational infrastructure that powers AI-driven applications, from AI agents to robots. We work at the intersection of computer systems and machine learning, building systems that make AI more scalable, efficient, secure, and reliable.
research
We build storage and data systems to manage the massive amounts of data needed to train and serve models.
We build systems that scale to train massive foundation models more efficiently and reliably.
We build serving and caching systems to make agentic applications faster and cheaper.
We build systems to deploy models on the resource-constrained hardware in robots and edge devices.
We are looking for motivated PhD, MS, and undergraduate students with a strong foundation in computer systems and machine learning systems.
